Built by operators who know pressure

Emberline was founded by security and infrastructure leaders who've managed real incidents, built resilient systems under constraint, and learned what actually matters when crisis happens.

Our story

Emberline was founded on a simple observation: too many organizations have security and disaster recovery plans that look good on paper but fall apart under real pressure.

Eleanor Whitcombe and her founding team spent decades on the front lines — responding to ransomware attacks at 3 AM, coordinating recovery for operations that couldn't afford downtime, and explaining security decisions to boards and regulators. We saw what worked and what didn't.

What we learned: the best security isn't about the loudest technology or the most imposing framework. It's about calm, competent people who understand your business, prepare relentlessly, and respond with clarity when things go wrong.

Emberline doesn't promise to eliminate risk. We promise to help you understand your risk, prepare for failure, and recover faster when it happens. We partner with organizations — not to sell them more tools, but to help them operate with confidence.

How we operate

Bias toward action

When a threat shows up, we respond in minutes, not days. When your recovery plan needs testing, we schedule it. We move fast because we understand the cost of delay.

Transparent in what we find

No sugar-coating. If your recovery plan has gaps, we say so. If a vendor tool isn't working for you, we'll tell you. Honest reporting builds trust.

Accountable for outcomes

We're not here to collect billable hours. We're here to help you reach measurable outcomes: threats detected, systems recovered, teams prepared.

Human-led support

You'll work with named people who understand your environment and care about your success. Not a rotating helpdesk or an automated ticketing system.

Continuity over churn

We build long-term partnerships. The same team that helped you assess risk will help you respond to incidents and prepare for regulatory audits.

Prepare for real conditions

Recovery plans aren't tested with pristine data and a quiet lab. We run exercises that include network latency, partial failures, and human error.

Meet the team

Emberline is a team of 12 security, infrastructure, and operations leaders. We collaborate across disciplines because the best incident response, disaster recovery, and compliance work happens when teams communicate clearly.

What drives us

Real-world resilience matters

We're driven by the fact that when your systems go down, people depend on you. When you're breached, customers are affected. Our work matters in the real world.

Security shouldn't be punitive

We believe the best security teams enable the business to move fast while reducing risk. We help you balance operational speed with security discipline.

Preparation beats panic

We invest in planning, testing, and team training because the time to figure out your incident response is not during an incident. Preparation builds confidence.

Relationships are built on trust

We partner with your team over the long term, learning your business, understanding your constraints, and earning the right to advise you on critical decisions.
